Setting lonely children into families.

Restoring Families to God's order

'Good things come to those who wait .......

Nimrod was longing to see his father and every time we visited Joseph Kangethe hall he would run to us hoping to hear of his father’s coming. “When will Baba Nimrod come?” that was the question that kept popping up in our minds. It had taken about three weeks before Nimrod’s father came to rescue his son

“I will be coming to pick my son on either Tuesday or Wednesday, I am working hard……..the fare I’ve got is less by a hundred shillings.” This was Nimrod father’s response to Mary when she spoke to him on phone. We felt that we should support this process of re-uniting Nimrod to his family by topping up the balance of bus fare for Nimrod and his father. What a joy for Nimrod’s father, Mr. Nyagaka when he heard of our decision!

He came the following day and waited for us at one of bus stops near Joseph Kangethe Hall so that we could walk together to the centre, for this was his first time to visit Nairobi. He walked fast as he was eager to see his son.

Once at the centre the father and son embraced each other. Nimrod was looking remorseful for his mistakes but his father kept saying he had forgiven him. He had come from Gilgil about 100 km to an unknown city just because of the great love he had for his lost but found son. ”I have forgiven you my son,” Nimrod’s father assured his son with a gentle fatherly voice.

Later on we had a counselling session where we facilitated the reconciliation process between Nimrod and his father. Wambui prayed for them as this was meant to mark a new beginning in Nimrod’s life. The amazing thing is that Nimrod also got a chance to share with his dad the memory verse he had learnt while at the Centre with Mary’s help.

Nimrod was looking forward to meeting his other siblings and this made him clean up quickly as he bid his friends good-bye. He looked triumphant and it felt as if his feet could not carry him out of the compound quickly enough bearing in mind that he was free and ready to live a transformed life with his family.

We walked out of the compound excited yet emphasizing the need for Nimrod to have focus in life, work hard in school and to keep the habit of reading his bible as it had been when he was in the Centre.

Later that night, Nimrod’s father called Mary to inform her that they had traveled safely and also, guess what….that the other siblings were rejoicing over the return of their brother. Wambui pictured Nimrod being the Joseph of the Bible, as his siblings sang and celebrated his come back while Mary thought of a lost son’s return and angels rejoicing.

Nimrod’s father is a single parent of 5 children and at the back of our mind we knew it was the start of another long journey to empower this family. Nimrod’s father is the bread winner whose income is from operating ‘boda boda’ (bicycle taxi).

We welcome you to partner with us as we inspire, empower and transform this father to enable him to support his family by empowering him economically through follow-up visits. We celebrate to see Nimrod back home with his family where he belongs.
